Istanbul, the city of two continents

Istanbul is a city where two civilizations meet, east and west. The city which is part of two continents, Asia and Europe. This city store so much very diverse culture, the western culture mixed with the traditional culture of the east. The buildings and art objects is a mixture of indigenous culture of Turkey, Byzantine and Roman.

Economic activity, industry, tourism, entertainment and education rapidly developing in this city. A trip to Istanbul is like a trip into the past with modern civilization. Various heritage buildings of the Byzantine empire, Roman and Ottoman is maintained, together with the modern buildings which continue to grow rapidly.


One of the main destination for tourist is the Bosphorus. Bosphorus is not a river, but the strait connecting the Black Sea to the Marmara Sea, the strait that separates the Turkish parts of Asia and parts of Europe. To explore the Bosphorus we can use the ferry.


The journey can be started from Eminonu to the Black Sea. A very exciting trip as Dolmabahce Palace, the Palace Belerbeyi located not far from the bridge linking Asia with Europe. In addition to these palaces,there are also hotels, restaurants, and houses along the Bosphorus which is a fusion of European architecture and the architecture of Asia.

Another historic place is very interesting is the Topkapi Palace, which is the largest palace in Istanbul. Since 1924, Topkapi palace transformed into a museum functions. Topkapi is the former residence sultan's palace and the central government of Turkey in the past. Topkapi Palace is a building typical of Turkey which has beautiful gardens that connect between the buildings with other buildings. The gardens are full of green trees that shade large. Palace is now a museum which holds many works of art and historic heritage is priceless.

Other historic sites worth to visit to Istanbul is the Hagia Sophia Museum. Many historians say that the Hagia Sophia may be nominated as the eighth wonder of the world. Hagia Sophia is a church building which was built by Konstatius in the 4th century. Hagia Sophia is a Roman architecture, which visible from the exterior and interior of the building which has a large and magnificent dome.


After Istanbul the Turks ruled under the leadership of Sultan Mahmed the Conqueror, Hagia Sophia, converted into mosques. Feature of the church at this mosque is not removed. Ornaments that show Hagia Sophia church had been preserved, as seen in pictures of ornaments in the building.

Some additional ornaments such as calligraphy, mihrab and the pulpit come complete interior of the building has changed the function of a mosque. The building has functioned as a church for 916 years and 477 years as a mosque was turned into a museum now under Ataturk's regime.

Other buildings worth visiting tourists is Dolmabahce Palace. The building is a combination of European architecture that stores collections of ancient objects and objects such as furniture palace, silk carpets and painting walls.

Istanbul is also famous as a busy trading place visited by tourists. There are two places that are very famous, trade at the Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar. Grand Bazaar is the oldest and biggest market in Istanbul,located in the middle of town. This market consists of thousands of shops that sell items of high quality crafts, jewelry, antiques and various other items which are original products from Turkey.

Spice Bazaar (Bazaar of spice), or also known as Egyptian Bazaar is a unique market and attractive. Here for sale a variety of spices, caviar (beluga caviar), sausages, cheese and typical crafts from Turkey. In a shopping transaction in Istanbul not only be done with just their national currency is the lira, but also can be done to the U.S. dollar and the euro. So, you can easily shop without the need to find a place to exchange foreign currency.

A trip to Istanbul is not only enough to explore the historic sites. Many other interesting places are dear to the past, Taksim Square, for example, is where the modern city center of Istanbul. IN Taksim square there are many star hotels, restaurants and other nightlife center. In addition, there are also Ataturk cultural center. This place is a community gathering place to celebrate the new year, music concerts, parades and other performances.

It's not complete without a tour in Istanbul enjoy the culinary tour. You can enjoy a typical Turkish meal that we've heard the kebabs that taste is very diverse and its variations. Not just kebabs, various sea food is also very popular in Istanbul. A number of restaurants not only provide great food, but also show attractive.
