The other side of Thailand

Asia is exotic. Similarly, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, two regions in northern Thailand are so rich. Thailand is faomous being the only country in Southeast Asia who has never known European imperialism. That is why this country change their origin name “Siam’ to “Thailand” which mean freedom.
Those words are match to describe the richness of origins in this country. If you are familiar with Phuket and Bangkok which located in the southern and central Thailand, this time you will enjoy the wealth of nature and other cultures in northern Thailand. Precisely in the area of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

Chiang Mai

This area also known as The Rose of the North,located about 700 km flights to bangkok, found by King Mengrai in 1296. Chiang Mai is the center of the Lanna Kingdom. Chiang Mai residents still maintain the culture, dialect and many of their traditions to the present. Various religious buildings, like temples Thai architectural style of the rich ornaments, also seen were so graceful and beautiful flawless.

"Tour of the temple" might be one of the interesting activities to do here. You can visit Wat Phra Sing Temple which had stood since 1345. In this place, every year on April 13-15Songkran Festival –The Thai New Year-is held.You can see the beautiful details in this temple, ranging from wood carvings, murals until stupas.



In addition, you can also visit the Wat Suan Dok was built in the 14th century where there is a bronze statue of Buddha which stood since 500 years old! Wat Chiang Man was obliged to visit. This temple is one of the oldest temple in Chiang Mai, built in the year estimated in 1296 and inside there is a statue of Buddha made of crystal.

In addition to beautiful temples,you can also visits many other tourist objects scattered in Chiang Mai. For example Chiang Mai Zoo, has 200 animals spesis from Asia and Africa. Or see a panoramic view of Doi Suthep Wat Phrathat. It is a high plateau 3520 meters above sea level, located about 15 km from the city of Chiang Mai. There is also Namtok Mae Klang, waterfalls that stretch as far as 58 km had become another tourist attraction that you should not miss.



Chiang Mai also has a garden of extraordinary beauty, the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden. The park is open daily from 08.30-15.00 hrs this. specially made in 1992 to honor Queen Sirikit. There is also a Tourist Information Center can provide clearer information to the visitors. Various other activities such as elephant riding, mountain biking, trekking in the hills or trying to stay at Ban Mae Kampong in the district of Mae On, can fill your vacation during the Chiang Mai.

Vacation without shopping, of course not quite fit. Be careful with your wallet, because most likely you will "go crazy". Chiang Mai is famous as a producer of silk, wood, silver, ceramics and other crafts of high value. No wonder this area became one of the destinations visited by selling art. Chiang Rai

Once you feel satisfied around Chiang Mai, continue your journey to the north about three hours. You will arrive in Chiang Rai. One of the tourist objects that you need to visit once set foot in Chiang Rai is the King Mengrai Monument. According to the local community, visit the monument which is located next to the road to Mae Chan and created in honor of the King is dead, it should be done before visiting other tourist attractions.



In Chiang Rai there are too many beautiful temples hundreds of years old. Call it Wat Phra Sing, thick temples and religious nuances of the kingdom of Lanna heritage. Another beautiful temple is Wat Phra Kaeo which is located next to Wat Phra Sing. If you happen to visit on certain months, maybe you could get lucky witnessed an annual event that is routinely held in Chiang Rai. For example Wai-sa Phaya Mengrai held from late January to early February. Parade, dance and various traditional competitions, held in honor of King Mengrai. In addition, there are also Lychee Fair held on the third week in May. In addition of course to enjoy the Lychee fruit harvest.
